I was browsing WordPress and came upon this blog:

It has several entries by guest-bloggers extolling the virtues of getting out there to sell your own books. You know, passing out bookmarks, reviewing other’s works, giving talks, book signings etc etc.

I bet these things all work quite well to help move books off the virtual shelves.

But here’s my problem. I don’t want to do any of them. I just want to write.

I am not terribly extroverted. That is why like this work so much. I have a great imagination, a rich internal tapestry of countries and people, but a salesman I am not. Nor do I want to be.

Don’t get me wrong. I like blogging, and meeting friends on line who have common interests. I don’t think I have it in me to go out and sell, sell, sell though.

This might mean I don’t ever make it big in the book business.

Oh well. Tibi ipsi dic verum.
